Way More Then Sex and Statues
Internationally acclaimed sculptor Susan Bahary, joins Mark to discuss her newest creation, a life size bronze monument titled “The Pledge” which is at the permanent collection of the Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Maryland. Susan’s phenomenal work is commissioned by the United States War Dogs Association
Susan Bahary is internationally known for her inspiring sculptures honoring the animal/human bond and service animals. Mastering both form and emotion in her animal and human subjects, her works have captured hearts worldwide. She is known for her unique gift of combining accurate form with stunning, lifelike expression. Her extensive knowledge of and experience with the animal form continues to earn her commissioned works for some of our country’s most celebrated animal monuments located in prominent museums, universities, military bases and abroad. Susan created our country’s first official war dog memorial, "Always Faithful” that was unveiled at the Pentagon and dedicated at the US Marine Corps War Dog Cemetery on Guam in 1994. She has since been a leader in raising awareness of and support for their deeds and sacrifices.

Freehold, New Jersey resident Stephanie Nicole Parze was murdered by her boyfriend in late 2019, who died by suicide after being release from jail on separate charges though did not admit his cowardly act in his suicide note left for his mother. In the short period after Nicole’s body was found, Stephanie’s parents Ed and Sharlene Parze founded the Stephanie Nicole Parze Foundation with the vital mission of providing education, intervention and support to families and individuals dealing with domestic violence, sexual abuse and missing loved ones. Mark discusses the 1st Annual Stephanie Nicole Parze Color Butterfly Run/Walk on October 24, 2020 and his role of emcee and how he incorporated the significant role the community played in searching for Stephanie and honoring her life through attending a golf outing and the run/walk to benefit the foundation. When #BlackLivesMatter went viral in 2013, it shed a light on the urgent, daily struggles of Black Americans to combat racial injustice. The message resonated with millions across the country. Yet many of our political, social, and economic institutions are still embedded with racist policies and practices that devalue black lives.
Tehama Lopez Bunyasi co-author of STAY WOKE: A People’s Guide to Making All Black Lives Matter (NYU Press, joins Mark to shed light on the evolving effort to bring attention to the precarious nature of Black lives in the United States. INDOMITABLE TIN SOILDERS REDEFINE RESILIENCE

Imagine your body seizing up. Unable to walk, bend over or not being able to simply wave hello or goodbye. Hillary Weldon and daughter Whitney Weldon know all too well how Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), an extremely rare degenerative disease has impacted their lives. Amanda Cali is also well versed in this condition that her son Ian Cali was diagnosed with at age 5. Mark talks with Hillary, Whitney and Amanda about the onset to the vital clinical trials that are being conducted and how they feel it is their mission to educate the public as well as doctors globally on this rare disease. And no better conduit to enlighten the world then through a riveting full length documentary film they created aptly named, “Tin Soldiers”. About: Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a disorder in which muscle tissue and connective tissue such as tendons and ligaments are gradually replaced by bone (ossified), forming bone outside the skeleton (extra-skeletal or heterotopic bone) that constrains movement. This process generally becomes noticeable in early childhood, starting with the neck and shoulders and proceeding down the body and into the limbs.

Athlete and founder of Foreseeable Future Foundation, Griffin Pinkow joins
Mark to share the genesis of Foreseeable Future Foundation and how it serves
youth that are blind or visually impaired to participate in sport,
recreation and the workforce. This magnificent non-profit organization
provides a platform and opportunity that is helping youth attain their
goals. Mark and Griffin not only share a love for cycling they share life
experience of living with a rare visual impairment and how Griffin has not
let Retinitis Pgmentosa prevent him from becoming a threat on a tandem bike
where he plans to compete on an Olympic level.
