Tracey Jackson, tv and film writer and co-author of NY Times best seller, GRATITUDE AND TRUST: 6 Affirmations That Will Change Your Life joins me for an in-depth conversation about loss, denial and numerous invaluable life lessons. Hear many riveting stories including Tracey’s first meeting with Oscar and Grammy winning song writer Paul Williams that took place in Robert Mitchum's bedroom. Really! A veteran of traditional therapy — though never an alcohol or drug abuser like her friend Paul…Tracey has struggled with other negative behaviors to numb her pain such as men, cigarettes, and over-spending. Tracey shares stories of debauchery that Paul lived and wrote about in their book like how Paul was rarely able to recollect his dozens of appearances on the Tonight Show since he was so high. Tracey blogs on traceyjacksononline.com, and she runs GratitudeandTrust.com with her dear friend Paul Williams.

“Mark Farrell presented at our school during The Week of Respect. The students were captivated by his motivating message on perseverance, diversity, and anti-bullying. Our students remained engaged throughout his presentation as he has perfected speaking to students at their developmental level. Mark was flexible to work with and was able to engage with students on a large array of topics. My students greatly benefited from hearing the message that with hard work, diligence, and never giving up on yourself, your dreams can become your reality. I would highly recommend Mark Farrell to any school looking for a highly motivating speaker”

Another professional athlete is charged with domestic violence – something that is become all too common for victims and leagues. Are sports that require a certain degree of violence for professional athletes more dangerous for the health and well being of their spouses? In October - most schools celebrate diversity, inclusion and the importance of acceptance regardless of how a student identifies as well as the dangers of drug and alcohol use. During this vital month I share my vast experience with students at schools everywhere on overcoming adversity – my struggles of living with a visual impairment, coping with mental illness, my awakening of years of drug/alcohol use and so much more. I’m beyond gratified when I meet students months or years after they heard one of my talks and they recite my mantra, “My Difference Makes Me Stronger” and how my talk had such a positive impact on them. I wish schools didn’t let the calendar dictate or limit how much impact significant messaging can have on students.

Parents of college students, don’t be alarmed if you kid calls at an odd hour from a wild party to tell you they love you – it’s because they lost at beer pong (though I’m sure they do love you) and they price of losing is embarrassment and of course, a good long chug. Trump lost Jennifer Mau’s vote when she along with her daughter with a disability attended a rally for Trump last week in Loveland, CO. when she inquired about Trump’s insensitive and callous remarks about NY Times reporter Serge Kovalevski (who suffers from a joint condition), she was harassed to the point secret service had to safely escort her out along with her 7 year old. Now that’s the way to earn a vote.

“Mark did a magnificent job of letting our students know about his struggles he’s overcome and his incredible determination not let our limitations (perceived or real) to get in the way of pursuing our dreams and being proud of who we are. What made Mark’s presentation so spectacular was his ability to tell his story in a way that connected to all of our students. Mark’s message of self-acceptance and perseverance was extremely moving and important. The feedback from our teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and staff members were as impressed by you as much as our students were. You are a true inspiration to all of u!”

Bruce Springsteen’s shows are unparalleled for many reasons including performance time that he so graciously gives adoring fans. I think his 4 plus hour shows are equally fulfilling for him as much as his fans as it’s evident just how elated he is performing in front of fellow New Jerseyians. Hear clips from the 8/30/16 show that where he proved it ALL night long why no other musician can match his shows!

I typically attempt to write a snappy blurb that’ll make you want to immediately hit the play button though I have completely failed since there’s little I can write that’ll remotely come close to encapsulating the life and conversation I was fortunate to have had today with undaunted Alvin Law. Listen and you’ll concur! Tomatoes are beautiful, scrumptious and life affirming! Sounds like I’ve been “hitting the sauce”, rather I just discovered how very special making Italian sauce with family and friends is and why so many embrace such a laborious production that requires vast equipment, heavy lifting and 10 plus hours to complete. I’m hooked!

Like millions of Americans, Andre Fooks is fed up with the numerous shootings and deaths of black men by police officers and the recent retaliation deaths from angered black men so Andre’s impromptu decision to walk into a New Jersey police department to speak with an officer spawned a concept that he calls #peaceforpics. Hear how and why this grass roots concept has gone viral. Please join in as well as spread the word at: #picsforpeace. Daniel L. Hatcher’s new book, “The Poverty Industry – the Exploitation of America’s Most Vulnerable Citizens” reveals how vital money is being siphoned from the disabled community, senior citizens, foster children and more through profiting from the social safety net. Most states are guilty of this and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is no exception since he too has redirected funding earmarked for vulnerable populations. Seems unfair because it is unfair!

“I plan on winning a Paralympic gold medal at the 2016 Rio Games”…that sums up Will Lachenauer – member of the US Paralympic National Cycling Team that’s Rio bound. My talk with Will further demonstrates that despite life circumstances that seem incredibly daunting, determination and resiliency can get one through the worst of times. From motocross racer, climber. Mountain bike competitor to nationally ranked hand crank cyclist post his accident – Will’s remarkable zeal for life, family and work have given him an entire new perspective though the only thing Will says he can’t do nowadays is change light bulbs. Seems like a 90’s flashback that Pokemon is ubiquitous but the new Go version is prompting people who suffer from depression, agoraphobia and more to leave their homes. Can a game help treat mental illness and more through distraction?
